‘Tis the season for endless rankings. Sports Illustrated recently released their top 100 players in the NBA. Ben Golliver and Rob Mahoney did a great job with this difficult task. These are opinionated lists, so they can be highly scrutinized.

Typical Utah Jazz fans seem to feel shafted by these types of lists, but in SI’s list three Jazz players made it into the top 40. The J Notes’ thoughts on the SI article can be found here. ESPN will likely begin their #NBARank soon and many other player rankings are also forthcoming.

Today we begin ranking the talent of each player on the Utah Jazz training camp roster. It is important to clarify that these rankings are based on their current talent level when healthy, not their potential. So while Trey Lyles may have a higher ceiling than Trevor Booker, it does not mean Lyles will come in higher on this list.

This list will be an eight part feature and has been compiled by me, with input from all of the writers at The J Notes.

The Jazz have all 20 training camp roster spots filled. We are going to start our ranks at the bottom with the five players who likely will not make the Jazz roster and work our way up to the best player on the team.
