Utah Jazz News: D-League Hire, Ticket Pre-Sale, OG Malone

When it’s not dragging for days on end without so much as a whisper of news about our Utah Jazz, the NBA offseason can be fun. We get to speculate on potential trades and free agent rumors, construct our ideal player rotations and ponder what surprises the coming season may yield, among other topics.

Monday morning, we were granted respite from the doldrums of late August with a hot bit of speculation. David Pick of Basketball Insiders opined that the Utah Jazz could be the Western Conference team that Brazilian point guard Marcelinho Huertas was looking to sign with. Alas, that team ended up being the Los Angeles Lakers–

Always the bridesmaid and never the bride, eh? Thankfully, we have other Jazz news items to digest this afternoon. Brace yourself for the “offseason-est” news of the day.

Jordan Brady Added to Idaho Stampede Coaching Staff

The Jazz have announced the addition of Jordan Brady to the staff of their D-League affiliate, the Idaho Stampede. Brady will take the place of Andrae Patterson on head coach Dean Cooper’s coaching staff. Patterson made a move to the Jazz front office as a player personnel/player programs coordinator earlier this offseason.

Brady’s Utah connections run deep–he was born in Vernal, played college ball for Salt Lake Community College and Utah Valley University and also spent two seasons as a player with the Utah Flash.

After his playing career, Brady joined the coaching game and has served as an assistant for the Los Angeles D-Fenders, the Bakersfield Jam and the Iowa Energy. Cooper cites this experience as a major asset for the Stampede–

"“Jordan has a bright future ahead of him. He brings a lot of D-League experience from being both a coach and a player. He’s a talented young coach who will be a valuable part of our player development.”"

Single-Game Jazz Tickets Available with Twitter Code

Single-game tickets for Utah Jazz basketball are technically not yet available to the general public. However, the team has announced a special Twitter pre-sale via social media–

Fans looking to get a jump on buying tickets can go to this link and use the code TREY to snag their seats early. I, for one, have a browser tab ready to get my tickets to the November 23 game against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Enes Kanter must go down.

OG Malone

Finally, East Coast transplant Joey Braxton is set to drop his debut EP entitled “OG Malone” after our favorite letter-carrying power forward. Braxton posted the following preview of his efforts on Instagram over the weekend, hyping the September 1 release–

Hopefully Braxton can unseat Macklemore as the best MC in a Utah Jazz jersey.
