On Monday afternoon, the Australian National Team roster was officially announced for the FIBA World Cup. Utah Jazz guard, Dante Exum, was named to that roster. The report came from Sportando.
Exum will participate in the FIBA World Cup with the Australian National Team in Spain in late August, and early September.
Joining Exum on the 12 man Australian team roster, will be a few NBA names, but not real big names. The complete list can be found below.
Matthew Dellavedova, Cleveland Cavaliers, age 23
Adam Gibson, Adelaida 36ers, age 27
Dante Exum, Utah Jazz, age 19
Chris Goulding, CAI Zaragoza, age 25
Ryan Broekhoff, Besiktas, age 23
Joe Ingles, Maccabi Tel Aviv, age 26
Brad Newley, Herbalife Gran Canaria, age 29
Cameron Bairstow, Chicago Bulls, age 23
Brock Motum, Bologna, age 23
Aron Baynes, San Antonio Spurs, age 27
David Andersen, Strasbourg, age 33
Nathan Jawai, Galatasaray, age 27
Names like Dellavedova and Baynes may ring some bells to NBA fans, and Motum may be remembered by some Utah Jazz fans, as he was part of the Jazz’s Las Vegas Summer League team this year. In that summer league, Motum actually played pretty well for the Jazz. Bairstow, who is with the Chicago Bulls, also played in the Las Vegas Summer League and played well.
Due to being the fifth pick in the most recent NBA Draft, Exum is the most well known name on this roster, and Jazz fans will especially be keeping an eye on how their newest addition plays against some of the world’s best talent.
Exum and the rest of the Australian National Team will begin their World Cup journey on Saturday, August 30th against Slovenia.
