2014 NBA Draft: Utah Jazz Get Dream Pick at 5

Well the unthinkable happened and a top 4 projected guy fell to the Utah Jazz.  The reaction?  Complete euphoria!

The Utah Jazz selected Dante Exum and instant excitement returned to Utah.  The 6’6″ guard out of Melbourne Austrailia has seen his stock rise without playing for the last 10 months.  The boy wonder from down under is said to be the international man of mystery as not really anyone has seen him play more than 2 live games.  That is tough to get a read on a player that has had such limited exposure.  Here is a must watch video if you haven’t seen any highlights.

At 18 years old he has plenty of upside.  He needs to work on his jump shot, but he is a joy to watch.  He is very quick and has great athleticism that likens him to Penny Hardaway.  If you haven’t seen Penny Hardaway play or have forgotten what he was like watch this:

Now just picture that on the Jazz and that’s the upside we as fans could see in the future.

Another thing that has him compared to Penny is:

Great first pick for the Jazz and the 23rd pick is coming up in the next 30 minutes or so.

For my part I’m very excited with Exum coming to the Jazz. It’s fun, and the team needs some !
Hope he is going to show nice things on the floor.
A bit disappointed concerning R.Neto, do you think Utah still believes in the brazilian PG ?

Certainly the Jazz still believe in Neto, Exum fell into their lap. They probably never saw it coming.

I would like to see Neto come over too, I think they still believe in the kid, they made a play to get him last year, I just think with the lack of experience in the squad (especially at the PG position) he might be stashed in Europe for one more year. Personally though I would like the Jazz to dump John Lucas III, and bring Neto over in his place, but failing that scrap John Lucas III and keep Diante Garrett as the backup PG.
