It is still uncertain what role Wells will have with the Jazz. He could be brought on as an assistant coach, player development, or even be involved with the Jazz’s D-League affiliate, the Idaho Stampede.
Wells has been around basketball reportedly since 1994. Since then he has been all around. From August of 1994 through June of 2011, Wells spent time as an assistant coach, scout, and video coordinator for teams like the Houston Rockets, Los Angeles Lakers, San Antonio Spurs, and the Washington Wizards.
Wells left the NBA to take an assistant coaching job at George Mason University, where he was there from June 2011 through May 2013. From there, he took a one year job as an assistant coach at the University of South Florida where he did individual player development, game planning, scouting reports, X & O’s, recruiting, and much more.
His stint as an assistant coach for the University of Toledo was short lived. Wells was hired on in April of this year as an assistant coach and stayed there a total of three months before coming to the Jazz.
As mentioned above, it is unclear what position the Jazz will have for Wells. His official title will be made known soon by the Jazz.
