The Utah Jazz drafted the big man out of France as a project big man. They were intrigued with the length of Rudy Gobert. After showing some promise in his rookie season, Gobert was looking to put in some hard work and come back next season better.
His off season has gotten off to a less than ideal start.

This surgery takes approximately four to six weeks to recover from, according to multiple medical web sites. According to Gobert’s Twitter account, surgery seemed to go fine.
Surgery went well. Thanks for the support im already walking to my plane. — rudy gobert (@rudygobert15) June 10, 2014
Gobert was the 27th pick in the NBA Draft last year. After being traded from the team that drafted him, the Denver Nuggets, he played in 45 games for the Jazz in his rookie campaign. The defense is there for Rudy, but he looks lost on offense. He struggled controlling passes and often times struggled keeping a hold of the ball once he got it.
This off season was going to be a chance for Rudy to work on all those things. With this surgery, his off season regiment will be pushed a little farther back, which could effect his development.
With recovery time looking to be four to six weeks, Rudy looks to not be available for Summer League, when the Jazz travel to Las Vegas. However, he should be healthy and ready to go by the time training camp starts this fall.
