Morning Jazz 04-15-14

Last night, the Utah Jazz were in a situation where lose-you win, win-you lose type of game last night against the Los Angeles Lakers. If the Jazz were to beat the Lakers, then the Jazz, Lakers, and Celtics would all be in a three way tie for the fourth, fifth, and sixth worst record in the league, which would be extremely hurtful to the Jazz’s lottery chances. However, the Jazz let Nick Young go off for 41 points and the Lakers rolled to a 119-104 victory over the Jazz. The loss puts the Jazz in sole possession of the fourth worst record in the league with one game to go. (via

Coach Tyrone Corbin has had a lot of negative things thrown his way this season. A lot of fans have been calling for Corbin’s job since the season began. Corbin’s contract ends after the Jazz play their regular season finale against the Minnesota Timberwolves. However, as much as people have not cared much for Corbin, he was still the coach and was still in a tough situation. If he were to win too many games, he ruins the franchises plans and makes the Jazz mediocre. If he loses too many games, he sucks and should be fired. Clint Peterson, a writer here at Purple and Blues, put together a thank you card for Corbin and the job that he has done this season. A lot of Jazz bloggers signed the card thanking him and the card was presented to him by David Locke before last night’s home finale. Corbin was very appreciative of the card and as his future is very uncertain, the gesture seemed to lift his spirits a bit. (via

The Jazz have one game remaining in the 2014 regular season in Minnesota on Wednesday night. The focus has been mainly on the draft this whole season, but now that the season is coming to a close, the focus will be solely on the draft and the prospects surrounding the Jazz’s draft pick. The Jazz will have a lot of options, but what is the Jazz’s best options in the upcoming draft? They will have a few choices, but it is important that they draft right. (via

As important as it is for the Jazz to draft right, it is really going to depend on where they land in the draft positioning after the lottery. As far as who might be the “perfect” fit for this Jazz team, Jabari Parker could be “perfect” for the Jazz. Parker, a freshman at Duke, is supposed to be announcing his decision to either return to Duke for his sophomore season or enter the NBA draft on Wednesday. Most are predicting that he will enter the draft, but you never really know. Jazz fans will be glued to the announcement, as it could affect how they do things come draft time. (via
