After watching the first weekend of March Madness I have decided that there needs to be a change for who is projected where in the lottery. Here is the latest 2014 NBA Mock Draft:
1. Milwaukee Bucks- Andrew Wiggins
Although Wiggins did not play the best in the tournament, his athleticism and defense will rocket him to the top. The style at Kansas does not fit Wiggins’ style of play and we really didn’t get to witness Andrew’s strengths of running the floor and pick and rolls.
2. Philadelphia 76ers- Jabari Parker
The Sixers really want Wiggins so missing out on him I think they’ll stay with a wing position player. I can’t see them drafting Embiid or Randle or one of the two points.
3. Orlando Magic- Marcus Smart
The magic really want a point guard and landing smart will be big for the organization. I could see them trading down knowing Smart should be there around 5-6.
4. Utah Jazz- Julius Randle
I don’t understand how this guy isn’t talked about more. He does everything, can guard every position and works his butt off. Randle alongside Favors is a solid frontcourt.
5. Boston Celtics- Joel Embiid
The Jazz passing on Embiid is a gift for Boston, but from a Jazz point of view they already have 2 raw bigs they are working with.
6. Los Angeles Lakers- Dante Exum
Exum is forcing his way to the Lakers and LA welcomes him fully. Benefits both parties and Exum is the best player in the draft IMO.
7. Sacramento Kings- Noah Vonleh
The Kings need a solid force alongside Cousins and Vonleh has the upside to be that guy. Plus he’s not a “me” type player meaning Sacramento can start to get away from that cover.
8. Detroit Pistons- Gary Harris
Since Caldwell-Pope has not shown he can play in the NBA, the Pistons will take a stab again at getting the top 2 guard available.
9. Cleveland Cavaliers- Kyle Anderson
This guy has come on strong lately and another year in college would probably put this guy in the top 3 for 2015. If he comes out though expect him in the top 10.
10. Denver Nuggets- Aaron Gordan
Denver needs another guy that will do all the dirty work and Aaron I could see as that guy. Another option would be a backup point with Tyler Ennis as they have struggled when Lawson is hurt.
11. Philadelphia 76ers- TJ Warren
Add another wing alongside Jabari and the Sixers all of a sudden look like a threat in the upcoming years. MCW, Warren, Jabari, Thadeous and Noel… solid.
12. Orlando Magic- Doug McDermott
Outside of Vucevic and Oladipo the Magic need work. Adding Doug will give them a guy to stretch the floor and compliment Smart.
13. Minnesota Timberwolves- DeAndre Kane
The Iowa State senior has turned into a James Harden-esque player. In most mocks he is somewhere in the second round. I don’t see him staying there.
14. Phoenix Suns- Nik Stauskas
With Jeff’s style adding another shooter would be very beneficial, specially with Nik’s other skills.
