Gordon Hayward USA Basketball Invitee

28 players were invited to the USA basketball camp for the next three years which included 14 new guys.  Gordon Hayward was one of the 14 new guys which joins a very prominent list of basketball players.  The guys invited listed on ESPN.com are:

Veterans: Carmelo Anthony, Tyson Chandler, Stephen Curry, Anthony Davis, Kevin Durant, James Harden, Dwight Howard, Andre Iguodala, LeBron James, Kevin Love, Chris Paul, Derrick Rose, Russell Westbrook, Deron Williams

Newcomers: LaMarcus Aldridge, Bradley Beal, DeMarcus Cousins, Andre Drummond, Kenneth Faried, Paul George, Blake Griffin, Gordon Hayward, Kyrie Irving, Kyle Korver, David Lee, Kawhi Leonard, Damian Lillard, Klay Thompson

On Bleacher Report they list Hayward as a surprise and say that Parsons should have made it over him.  Really??  I know I’m a Hayward homer but I want to see Parsons do what Hayward does as the number one option.  Not ever gonna happen.  Put Hayward with Harden and Dwight and watch him kill it as the third or fourth option.  The only thing Parsons has in common with Hayward is they are both white.  They have completely different skill sets and if you think they are the same go watch Parsons and then watch Hayward.  Not even close to who is better and has a much higher ceiling.

Hayward is averaging 27 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 2.5 steals in the month of January.  USA coaches were very impressed with Hayward in the USA mini camp last summer and believe that is a huge reason for the invite this time around as well.
