Don't Freak Out When the Utah Jazz Start Winning "Too Much"

Jazz fans just went through the toughest schedule in the NBA in November and December and came away with 10 wins.  Most Jazz fans are freaking out, but how many wins were impressive?  The Rockets at home who just lost to the Kings at home?  What about the Bulls without Derrick Rose?  No not feeling it?  I believe the Jazz have one impressive win this year and sadly enough that win was on the road in Phoenix.

So why are Jazz fans freaking out when the Jazz are the second worst team in the league?  May be it’s because they looked ahead to January and February and realize that the Jazz have wins galore ahead of them.

The Jazz play the Bucks, Nuggets, Cavs, Wizards, Kings, Raptors, 76ers, Nets, T-Wolves, Celtics and Suns at home in the next two months.  They also play @ Cleveland, @ Lakers (twice) and @ Detroit.  If the Jazz win all those games at home and go .500 on the four “easier” games on the road then the Jazz will be at 23 wins.

Why is this big news?  Because last year the 8 teams had 29 wins or less and 6 of those finished with less than 27.

If the Jazz wanted a top 5 pick in the draft they would only be able to win 3 games more the rest the season.  Well guess what Jazz fans that is just about what will happen unless the Jazz start beating teams they shouldn’t which hasn’t happened yet.  The Jazz play Orlando, Detroit, New York and the Lakers at home and have Philly and the Bucks on the road.  If the Jazz win every game they “should” and lose every game that they should they will win…… drum roll…..  24 wins.

That would put the Jazz as the 3rd worst team which is perfect for what Jazz fans of both sides want.  In other words don’t freak out if the Jazz have more than 20 wins at the start of March.
