Predict the Score: Utah Jazz vs Chicago Bulls

The Utah Jazz have started out 0-5 for the first time since moving to Utah and a big part of that reason is turnovers, as my staff writer Tyson Newman wrote about yesterday.  The Bulls are also  having a bad start to the season as they also have committed a lot of turnovers over their 1-3 start.  Derrick Rose has been sluggish averaging just 15 a game about 6 lower than his career average.  The Bulls lone win came against a struggling Knicks team by just one point.

The current line on this game is Chicago -13 with an over/under of 187.  The Jazz looked horrible against the Nets but the Nets also couldn’t miss a shot.  Then they came out against Boston and laid an egg for a majority of the game which is why this line is so high.  This game is a bettors dream as the Jazz should and will cover the points.  Even with the Jazz starting out 0-5 and not playing so great on the road they should still be in this game solely due to the fact that Chicago has a tough time scoring.  In fact both the Jazz and Boston are in the bottom 4 for scoring and both teams have the biggest point differential of around 8 points per game.

Hayward has played well this road trip, as has Kanter.  The Bulls however are stingy on defense and I feel a huge Derrick Rose game coming on… unfortunately for the Jazz.  The Jazz will not be getting their first win tonight unless they play like they did in the forth quarter against Boston.  For the Jazz to be in games they desperately need Derrick Favors to step up and play like he did against OKC in the opener.

My Prediction:  Utah Jazz 81 Chicago Bulls 93

Bulls have a better defence, and just about every team in the league has more depth than the Jazz just now.

    Bulls 98 Jazz 93.

Beyond this game the Jazz need to start aiming for 20 points a quarter minimum to give themselves a chance in games. There is no point starting games red hot and then having periods in the game where people can’t get buckets.
