I love sports betting as it gives someone even more reason to get into a sporting event especially when it comes to games you wouldn’t normally be interested in. It’s hard for me to go put money down for season long bets, because I’m not that patient and I don’t really like tying my money up for at most a couple days if I don’t have to. If I did have the patience though there are a couple steals that are almost certainties (there are NO for sure things in sports betting they keep telling me). I would argue that this week with the Broncos over the Jags moneyline bet is a “for sure thing” but you’d probably only win a dollar for every 10 you put down.
Here are the NBA futures that I’d take as great bets if you want to have a season long bet.
Los Angeles Clippers Over/Under 57
The Clippers with Doc Rivers should be a well disciplined team but the Clippers didn’t change anything and while they got 56 wins last year that doesn’t mean that this year will be easier. In fact with teams like New Orleans,Portland, Minnesota, Houston, Golden State all getting better those “should be” wins will be a lot harder this year.
Verdict: Under 57 wins
Houston Rockets Over/Under 54.5
Adding Dwight Howard to a team does not make a team 9 wins better from the year before. As we saw from the Lakers the Dwight made them worse almost. Again like I’ve said a thousand times Dwight Howard is the most overrated player in the NBA and putting him into a fast paced Rockets team won’t change that.
Verdict: Under 54.5 wins
Oklahoma City Thunder Over/Under 50.5
Westbrook is out the first 4-6 weeks and because of that the Thunder are only need 51 wins to take the over. I find it hard to believe that the Thunder won’t win at least 50 so unless it’s exactly 50 the bet is over.
Verdict: Over 50.5 wins
Cleveland Cavaliers Over/Under 40.5
Barring injuries the Cavaliers are a team to be reckoned with and winning in half its games should not be a problem in the least. Kyrie Irving is the best point guard in the league and will prove that this year.
Verdict: Over 40.5 wins
Portland Trailblazers Over/Under 38.5
This has to be the easiest bet and the most for sure you can get for an over/under bet. The Blazers won 33 games last year with the worst bench in the history of the NBA and this year added Mo Williams, CJ McCollum, Robin Lopez, Dorell Wright and Thomas Robinson. Yeah I think those guys can manage 5 wins. Portland will have 39 wins by mid March.
Verdict: Over 38.5 wins… easy
Utah Jazz Over/Under 27.5 wins
This wouldn’t be a Jazz blog without my biased opinion towards my team. 27.5 wins?!? and they got rid of Al Jefferson? Yes please give me the over. The Jazz still play 41 games at home and play the 10 worst teams in the league 2-4 times right? Yes, so same as Portland the Jazz should be well over this come April.
Verdict: Over 27.5 wins
