Utah Jazz: Ready To Lead

Isn’t it great that the young guys are finally getting their chance?  On top of that isn’t it great that the young guys are still all 23 and younger??  That’s crazy to think about that this core could be together for a long time if the Jazz are able to pay all of them and if all of them want to stay together.

Gordon Hayward and Derrick Favors have been talked about quite a bit these past couple days and their comments all point toward the same thing:  They are ready to step up and be the leaders of the team.  No more Al Jefferson, no more Paul Millsap.  I love saying that!  Now let’s watch the young guys and see them develop.  Nothing is more fun to watch for me than a team developing and getting better together from players that truly care about the game and being better at it.

It’s time,” Favors said, “for two other people to be the new leading scorers. Obviously, we’re going to have to adjust, but it should be fun. It’ll be exciting.”- Cited from Deseret News

I’m really excited,” Hayward said  “It’s going to be a challenge, for sure. But it’s time. I’m ready to step up and take that challenge.”- Cited from Deseret News

Tonight Hayward and Favors play at 7 pm MST on NBATV in the USA mini camp game.  Both Hayward and Favors will be on the blue team.  Two things to watch tonight are:

1) How has Favors bulked up and how quick and effective is he when he gets the ball in the post? and..

2) Will Hayward be the star tonight like everybody has been noticing and commenting on?

This team starts tonight in my eyes as far as the fan side of this team.  It will be one fun year and a year to really embrace the Utah Jazz like fans did of old with Stockton and Malone.  People that aren’t even Jazz fans are looking forward to watching them this year, here are a few comments from other articles about the team from readers.

Can´t believe I´m saying this but Utah will be fun to watch next season!”

I’m not really a Utah Jazz fan, but even I’ll admit that they should be a fun team to watch this season with their new, young foundation of the future. I really hope Derrick Favors breaks out into an all-star!!!”

can’t wait to see the young guns play big minutes.. finally they got rid of millsap and jefferson, they just slowed the development of favors and kanter, after all they are both No. 3 picks and deserved more minutes.”

One thing is for sure and that is the Jazz are going to have a bigger following than just the fans that normally follow them.
