Dennis Lindsey Wants Utah Jazz To Move Up

In an interview on 1280 the Zone, Dennis Lindsey says this when asked about the possibility of a move:

Our plan is to be very aggressive in the draft in relation to moving up. We have the ability to do that as of today. The easier thing is to move back, which I’m open to do as well if the right players were presented to us.

Moving up obviously means that they like a certain player that won’t be there when the Jazz draft at 14 so that might be a player like Trey Burke, CJ McCollum or Michael Carter-Williams or maybe even Victor Oladipo.

He also goes on to say:

There are certain combinations where we’re less excited about at #14 but if there’s a worst case scenario we’re OK at taking that.

To me that means they don’t like Schroeder or Larkin who many believe the Jazz will take at 14 since they need a point guard but also that they don’t really like anyone projected in the middle of the first round.  I also believe that this means that if a couple guys are off the board that they have a player they will take at 14 in the “worst case scenario” that will allow them to take who they want at 21.

About what the Jazz are looking for he says:

athleticism, skill, humility, hardwork… these things makes them good prospects for Utah Jazz

Have to also consider “upside” as well, and consider “risk” and what is acceptable and what’s not. In that case it may be OK to take on that risk.

then we have “great kid” and “questionable kid”, but if “great kid” has health issue? What do we do? It’s subjective.

Sounds to me like they might be worried about a couple of players (maybe Shabazz and Schroeder??), who knows that is just speculation but just know the Jazz are in a great position to move up in the draft if they want to.

5 days til the draft!!!
