Jazz Hold 3 Day Free Agent Camp

The Utah Jazz have decided to hold a 3 day mini camp for NBA Free Agents from June 11-13.  This is something the Jazz have not done in the past. The list of Free Agents attending is filled with D League players or from players overseas with the only exception being Luke Zeller, brother of Tyler Zeller and Cody Zeller, who played for the Phoenix Suns last season.   I’ve added the list of players attending the camp below.

This is a strange list of players for the Jazz to be bringing in and taking a look at.  Most of these players none of us have ever heard of with the exception being Travis Leslie who was in a Jazz uniform briefly last season.  Luke Zeller is another name most people recognize due to him having two brothers that also play.  Dennis Lindsay must really be doing his homework going into next season.  It’s possible that the Jazz are looking at the cheapest options possible so they can have cap room going into next off-season.  This of course would mean the Jazz would be going young and are preparing for a down season.  They may also be looking for a diamond in the rough who can contribute off the bench.

No matter what the reason is it’s not a bad thing bringing these guys in to take a look.  The Jazz front office is obviously working hard to find their best options and are willing to do whatever it takes to try to keep this franchise going in the right direction.  Most likely none of these players will make the Jazz roster for next season but you never know if management absolutely falls in love with one of these guys and he ends up on the floor at some point next season.  I actually really like Travis Leslie’s game and think he has potential to be a role player in this league.  He was named the D League All-Star game MVP last season so maybe they want to see if he stands out in this camp.  Hopefully Jazz management see what they’re looking for by holding this 3 day camp.
