When Did the New York Knicks Become the Denver Nuggets?

Haven’t we seen this before?  A team led by Carmelo Anthony with JR Smith coming off the bench, add in Kenyon Martin and you have the Denver Nuggets 2.0.  We all know them as the New York Knicks right  now.  The question is who decided that this Knicks team is any better than that Nuggets team back in 2009-10?  The Knicks finished with a 54-28 record, the 09′ Nuggets finished at 53-29.  The Nuggets failed to move on past the first round of the playoffs against the Jazz.  Where as the Knicks got a lucky break and played a depleted and old Celtics team.  Now that they are playing a good team and their true colors are showing and they aren’t able to do a dang thing.

Carmelo is still a “me first” player that is one dimensional and doesn’t know how to make his teammates better.  JR Smith can still light it up but fails to recognize when he is not on, and Kenyon Martin is the same overrated player he was back then.  Throw in 50 year old Kidd and and a beat up Amare Stoudemire and I’d say the 09″ Nuggets would have dominated this Knicks team.  Plus George Karl is a much more proficient coach than Mike Woodson.

One can argue that Carmelo Anthony is more mature and that he is an improved player from those Nuggets days, and same for JR, but I don’t see it.  In fact their little charade of wearing black against the Celtics was a sign of their immaturity.  The point I’m trying to make is no team that runs and guns will ever win a championship especially led by Carmelo and JR. Never. Never. Never.

Tyson Chandler is the only guy on that team (Kidd if he was in his prime) that will ever be on a championship team and that is because defense and selflessness wins championships not throw up prayers and hope they go in one on one basketball that the Knicks currently play.  From a third party standpoint they need to change it up if they ever want to get back to the Finals and get some players that will play defense and pass the ball.  Yes congrats New York on your best seeding in over a decade but news flash the East is awful and they wouldn’t have finished higher than 6 in the West.  Good luck on winning anything other than an individual scoring title as long as Melo is there.
