Oklahoma City Thunder Wishing They were playing the Utah Jazz

April 9th, 2013 the Thunder came into Energy Solutions Arena with one thing on their mind and that was payback for the last time they came to Salt Lake.  At that game Durant accused fans of saying inappropriate things that really offended him.  The Jazz won and that led to April 9th.  The Thunder came in and shut down the Jazz and it was an ugly game from start to finish.  The Jazz needed the win to make the playoffs and the Thunder wanted the game to stay in the drivers seat against the Spurs.

If that game goes differently the Jazz make the playoffs, the Lakers miss, the Spurs jump OKC and the Thunder end up playing the Jazz in the first round.  Instead as we all know they get the Rockets and Patrick Beverly who ended Westbrook’s season on a freak accident and ultimately ended the Thunder’s championship hopes.  Crazy how one little thing goes differently and it has a huge impact on the whole picture.

Unfortunately for the Thunder (and the Jazz) that didn’t happen and the Playoffs stand as they are.  I’m sure the Thunder still move on this round but highly unlikely they move on past the Grizzlies or Clippers without their All-Star point guard.  Disappointing for a team that was looking for payback against the defending champion Miami Heat.
