With the trade deadline looming, I wonder if Devin Harris’ spectacular play of late isn’t a tad too coincidental. Up until last night, Harris’ play ranged from mediocre to downright pathetic. With only nine games until the deadline, watching him suddenly morph into his old All Star ways causes me more pain than comfort. On the one hand he has shown significant improvement, scoring in double figures and racking up some fairly decent assists in the last few games. Here’s his stat line for the month of February:
His numbers are increasing with each game, but, I ask you, is this only because he senses the looming trade deadline and knows he must somehow increase his stock or else be subjugated to a crappy team? Or has Devin Harris truly returned to form? If the answer is the former, then does that mean his numbers will drop down to their early season digits once the deadline passes? And if the answer is the latter, does that mean the Jazz would be nuts to shop him away for another PG? It’s times like these that I would hate to be a GM. Nevertheless, I ask you dear readers: should the Jazz trade Harris, or should they keep him and hope that his stock continues to rise? Chime in below. (Keep in mind that it was Harris who suggested swing man Josh Howard to the Jazz – if we lose Harris, does that mean Howard will bail at season’s end?)
