Hey, Utah Jazz fans, do you know the saying, “2 out of 3 ain’t bad?” Well, when it comes to losing 2 out of 3, which the Jazz have just done, 2 out of 3 ain’t good. Now granted, the Jazz have lost to two of the best and hottest teams in the league, but the fact of the matter is, losses are losses.
The Jazz have reached a point where they are the kind of team that other teams fear to play, especially in Utah, which is regarded as possibly the toughest place for a visitor to win. The question is: why is that, if the Jazz are only 9-5 at home, as opposed to 7-2 on the road?
The reason for that is because of the hostile environment that EnergySolutions Arena provides for their hometown heroes. So whether or not the Jazz have an unbelievable home record or not, Utah is no walk in the park for its visitors. So, the thing that the Jazz need to be concerned with is how to turn those opponent fears into more wins for themselves.
This can all start on Friday night against the Orlando Magic, a team that they beat earlier in the season and a team that they have an overall record of 25-19 against (14-7 in Utah) (Thanks, Joyce!). The Magic are slumping right now, as they are on a 3-game losing streak and have scored less than 85 points in all those games. What Utah needs to do is play on Orlando’s emotions and get on them early and often. If the Jazz can get the Magic to doubt themselves right from the start, it can cause the Magic to start playing fast and out of control.
Obviously, though, the Magic are a seasoned team who has seen a lot of success in recent years. If any team would be able to get up for a game like this, it would be them. For this reason, the Jazz need to show mental toughness, and they have to work hard to keep guys like Vince Carter and Dwight Howard in check throughout the game. The moment the Jazz let up their intensity, the Magic will be right there waiting to strike hard, so the Jazz can’t sleep on them.
This game is going to be a real battle between two teams who are trying to get back on the right track. Both teams will be hungry, and both teams are going to fight until the bloody end to walk away with a victory. Hopefully that team will be the home team Jazz.
Enough about tonight’s game, let’s do an Add A Caption Contest. This picture is from Utah and Orlando’s earlier meeting this season. I know that the players aren’t involved, but this picture was too funny to pass up on. What is the ref thinking/saying? Don’t hold back! Be funny! Remember, the winner will be announced on Twitter (#AACC) so leave your Twitter username in the response if you have one. Good luck!
